Not much going on....
Currently the only think I have for sale currently is on my one lonely pattern on Ravelry... But I'll update when there's something else going on!
New Shop Section
I added a new section to the shop. I had a batch of yarn listings expire and rather than just continue to relist them I decided to discount them and add them to a Sale (renewed items) section. Nothing else has changed about this yarn except for the prices. I’m hoping to get some of this yarn moved out of my inventory before it expires again.
The other update is that I took some pictures of my shawl and I will be adding them to the pattern this week so that I can hopefully release it for testing by the weekend!

Shawl Pattern
I finished blocking my shawl made out of malibrigo lace weight yarn. It's amazingly soft and a decent shawlette size. I'm going to adjust the ruffle instructions because it's not as ruffled in the lace weight as it is in the fingering weight. I blocked this one slightly differently to give it a more square bottom but it could easily blocked into more of a crescent shape. After I finish the pattern tonight I'm going to decide how I want to go about testing the pattern. I'm most likely going to use the free pattern testers group in ravelry and at the end of the test and when the pattern is published I'm going to raffle this shawl. Keep your eyes open for more information about that if you want to enter. I'll be announcing it on my blog, through twitter, and in my shop announcements.
The Coupon Code is Back!
I mentioned it in my last blog post but in celebration of my birthday month I'm reactivating the 20% of AUDREYLEE coupon code. This is for all of the items in my shop and it will be active for the whole month of September so if you don't see anything you want right now check around the middle of the month when I have more new listings.
New Hand Knits
I have already listed a new market bag in my shop but there is still more to come! I have finally gotten some pictures of the shawl I made out of reclaimed cashmere and of this cute cowl that can also be worn as a necklace. The picture to the right shows it looped twice to be the size of a standard cowl. A button closure behind the flower makes it easy to take on and off without pulling it over your head. this should be listed in my shop this week as well as the shawl. I'm working on a second shawl and then I'll find some test knitters. I'm thinking of doing some kind of giveaway or promotion with the second shawl. Its made out of light blue malabrigo lace... pretty amazing right? What should I have you do for the chance to win something like that!?! ;)
Pattern and Shawl Coming Soon!
I finished knitting a shawl and I’m pretty much just waiting to get some good pictures of it. I’m almost done writing the pattern for it but I want to knit one more before I gather a group a testers to check it out for me. Then after all of that it will be available on etsy for all of you talented knitters!
Christmas in July
One of the yarns that I have samples of is this great lace weight cashmere. It was reclaimed from a sweater that had been screen printed with a blue and green flower pattern. When it was unraveled and then plied it created this great heathery effect with subtle blues and greens with a grey base. From far away the colors look very subtle when knit. When you really look at the yarn you get to see all of the great variations in the color. This yarn is also just really soft and will feel great against your skin. Listings for this yarn will start showing up in my shop the first week of July but the samples are ready right now if you wanted to test it out.
Alpaca and Free Samples
There is new aplaca yarn listed! It is dark blue and amazingly soft. Check it out in my shop.
I’ve decided that the month of July will be free sample month! With every purchase you will get a mini skein of another yarn that I’m selling. If you have a specific yarn that you want a sample of let me know and I’ll try to include it.
Other updates include more wool, cotton, silk blends, and a knitting machine. Check back often because I post new listing throughout the week in a feeble attempt to keep some of my yarn in the most recently listed section.

Cashmere everywhere
I have been loving the cashmere that I've been finding lately. It's not like wool where it's either scratchy wool or soft wool and you have to try to find the good stuff. If its 100% cashmere it is the good stuff! I haven't found any that I have instantly loved. It’s so soft with just a little bit of loft to it. .Most cashmere sweaters that are commercially made are constructed using very fine weight yarn. I ply these fine strands together to make a three ply yarn that is about fingering weight. There are countless patterns written for fingering weight yarn so this super soft yarn becomes very versatile. I currently have white and tan in the shop and I’m working on some spring green!
The Robots Have Been Assembled
I finished knitting my robot hat! I just need to sew the ends in and wash it and block it and it will be done. I had to start over once and then redo the decrease section a second time as well. I have pretty detailed notes about what I did so I’m hoping to tweak the color chart a bit and then publish my pattern. I really want to make some more with this design now that I’ve gotten it mostly figured out. Sorry for the emo kid angled pictures lol.
Hand Dyed w/ New Designs
I’m in the process of dying some yarn and designing some hats for my shop. The problem is that I have more ideas than time. The yarn I dyed is possibly the softest stuff I’ve ever felt. It’s a super smooshy wool and angora blend that isn’t too fuzzy like some angora can be so the stitches in color work aren’t lost a bunch of fuzz.
New Items and Free ShippingI have officially posted my first items! It took longer than I had expected, mostly because I read through my listing information about 30 times to avoid making mistakes. I tried to include enough yarn in each listing for a real project. I noticed that this made some of my prices seem higher, but I tried to stay pretty close to what others are charging per yard (others on etsy and other discounted yarn sources).
I’m offering free shipping when more than one item is purchased in the United States (and discounted shipping for everywhere else). There is also the coupon code listed below and three listings that come with a free scarf pattern. |
Grand Opening and Coupon Code
My first listings will begin appearing tonight and I'll try to get all of my inventory posted by tomorrow (which is Friday the 11th). For my grand opening I will be giving all of you 20% off of your order with the code AudreyLee!
Scarf Pattern with Yarn
I've started taking pictures of all of the yarn I've been accumulating that's ready to be listed on Etsy! This is some bulky weight, single ply, wool in some really warm colors. My mom calls these "her" colors after her recent trip to a beauty boot camp. I made her a scarf from some of this yarn for mother's day. I wrote out my pattern and I'll be including this with the purchase of this yarn. It took about 100 grams to make the whole scarf so I'll also be making listings with at least that much yarn in them. Pics of the scarf coming soon!
Some Shop Goals
There are several things that the revenue from my Etsy sales will be going towards. In the future I’m hoping it will help with paying off my car and student loans. For now there are still a couple things that I need to buy for my shop.
A better camera (Hey 4 megapixels was totally the best… 8 years ago lol)
Yardage counter (like this one from Knitpicks)
A manual ball winder. I have an electric one but it has a habit of breaking the really delicate yarns.
I also need to make enough money to cover the costs of starting up. This includes the sweaters, paper, labels, shipping supplies, a scale, and wool wash.
